Funds Needed

We will begin the process of constructing Silembe's House of Faith Orphanage this month with the drilling of a well (water).

We will follow up with construction of our first home over the next 90 days and will need additional funds for this process. In addition, we could use assistance as we visit in December-January for construction of the remainder of the homes.

House of Faith Orphanage will be home to 72 Orphans, providing loving support for physical, spiritual, and emotional healing and growth for these children. We hope you'll decide to be involved.

WOR News from Zambia

Hey Scott,

WOR-Zambia registration papers are ready for me to pickup Thursday. Praise the Lord!

The borehole/well costs k18m ($4,337 US) with casing and k9m if the hole is dry or not enough water. The pump installed costs k1.5m ($361 US). The current exchange rate is around k4150 so the well with hand pump should be around $4700. Let me get the exact amount when the driller tells me, then electronically transfer the money directly to the account I'll send you. We can only withdraw $500 each card each day (local bank restriction), so getting this much money takes time and transport. I just sent him a text message to see when they can drill.

Everyone's excited about the orphanage (Silimbe's House of Faith). I have a lot of construction workers ready to go, so I expect the building to go up relatively quickly. I'm still waiting for the Chief's paper giving us the land. He has been in Lusaka over the past week. I'm getting the procedure for council approval for the orphanage. It should only be a matter of time and number of hoops to jump through. I don't think they could do anything but approve (and charge annually something like K1M) in the end, especially since Mr. Walumba, Director of Social Welfare for Southern Province has given me the go-a-head. I expect this orphanage to populate faster than most since many people know us and know about our orphanages in the past.

We would love to have a group come just after Christmas (December 28 - January 8). We'll reserve those dates. The group will help the work and the experience will be life changing for them. December is a holiday month in Africa, which may bump up the airline rates is something to consider. It will be rainy season, increasing the chance of malaria, but the warm weather after winter in America is great change for most!

I would like to begin in earnest the first house as soon as the well is drilled sometime later this month. A truck load of cement, some transport, rebar, tools would be the first things needed. A couple of thousand dollars sent to Noah Ministries so that I can withdraw from here will get things going. One of the hardware stores in Livingstone that we buy from has offered to deliver -if we buy a truck load. We could buy all of the roofing, electrical, plumbing, windows and doors, delivered together, with WOR sending the money electronically to Vadoma's (the hardware store) bank. The timing on this should occur sometime in the next 30 to 60 days.

I'll talk to Sheri. I believe this could work out well for all of us, -referring to her getting Master of Peace Ranch established in July - August of this year. This may be a good way for Sheri to spend a few days in Congo organizing while overseeing Ndola orphanage. I'm not planning a trip that way anytime soon, but if you need me to go, let me know and it will be arranged.

I have something I believe is from the Lord on 'Street kids'. I'll share it with you sometime. I'm excited about many things, especially this orphanage. The ladies from Creative Ministries were with us to minister for 4 days. We went to our school in Silembe and saw over 200 students give their hearts to the Lord. They probably had a total of 500 saved over those 4 days of ministry. God is Good!

Faith, Hope, & Love --> Go!

I had the opportunity to share our work with a group at the Assumption Cathedral in Denver yesterday. It is so encouraging for me to share with others in respect to God's heart for Orphans.

Through me own personal experience, I have found that faith, hope, and love is a journey that brings us to a point where we take action. Our faith is made complete by action, and faith without works is dead! Which really means that there really isn't a faith there at all.

I am waiting to hear back from Zambia on timing of the drilling of the water well for the House of Faith Orphanage in Silembe. In addition to this, the other projects we have going on in Zambia at this time are as follows:

• Hope for the City Orphanage - we are in the process of having a new refrigerator and stove delivered to this home that cares for 7 girls in Kitwe.
• Lubuto Orphanage - we are hoping to finish our work at this facility this month. We are wrapping up a water tower and a kitchen remodel there. In addition, we hope to provide some tables for the children to eat and study on. Lubuto is in Ndola.
• Master of Peace Ranch - we are continuing our efforts to raise funds for the purpose of this farm near Ndola.

Hope for the City Orphanage

An update from our friends in Kitwe, Zambia, that we received today:

Hi Scott

I want to confirm receipt of the wired funds today without trouble. Thank you very much for blessing the kids with such so needed items. This will definetly improve the living conditions for the girls. Thank you also for the funds for groceries.

I have informed the pastor and the committee that you have sent the funds for purchase of a stove and a fridge and they are so grateful.

We will purchase the items on Saturday and on Sunday after church go to the Hope house where the pastor and I will present the items on behalf of 'WOR'. We have arranged for a digital camera to take some pictures of the small presentation which will be sent to you via e-mail.

Water in Africa

I was told by Zambian during our last visit there, that in Africa water is a sign of Life. I suppose that this make sense, and that a resource that many take for advantage is a very basic necessity.

Next month, mid-March or so, we will have a rig at our project in Silembe. This rig will be working for us, going down 300-400' to find water f0r our orphanage. This water will be required to serve 72 children there and other associated with their care. You may also send us a check to our address posted there, and we are a qualified 501 (c)(3). The well will be approximately $4,200 and the first home there will be another $10,000.

Fundraising Update

Yesterday we received a check for nearly $2,000 from Lutheran High School in Parker. We thank the student body of LHS Parker, the student council, and Principal Clausen.

These funds will provide for almost half the cost of the water well we plan to drill for in Zambia next month. This will be our first step in developing Silembe's House of Faith Orphanage.

We also continue to look for schools to be involved in our service project which involves selling soap made in Zambia. The income produced from the sale of this soap will be used to build orphanages in Zambia.

The property that we have designated as Master of Peace Ranch remains available, and is a place where we believe that we can care for 30-40 Orphans. In addition, we believe this project to be self-sustaining as we would be able to take advantage of many resources on the property.

WOR Board Meeting

We held our 2nd annual board meeting earlier this week. The primary topic of discussion was fundraising. While we have several opportunities to move forward to serve Orphans, our ability to fulfill these committments financially is the only item in question.

We continue to search for several schools to take advantage of our relationship with the Zambian Soap Company to sell organic soap as a service project. With the funds raised through this fundraising process we will build orphanages in Zambia. We do have several other project commitments in queue which will require $5,000.

During our meeting we were in agreement that the organization's focus is awareness, care, and adoption as it pertains to caring for Orphans.
